My Vintage Beaded Purse Collection

Vintage Beaded Evening Purses:

I've been collecting vintage beaded evening bags for years and now I need to find new homes for them. Most of them are in good usable condition structurally and may be worth restoring or just need cleaning, and some are only for display, repurposing, or shabby decorating due to their condition but they are all beautiful and make great boudoir, shabby chic, cottage style, or just plain vintage decor!! I love to see them hanging on a bed post, a shabby hook rack, a drawer pull, in a shadow box, or displayed in groups on large nails in the wall.

These old beauties were such works of art, and they were most often handmade (probably up until the 1960's). I'm so grateful that the generations before me didn't live in such a disposable world. These were treasured possessions carried at weddings and proms and were usually very well cared for and passed down to be used again for special occasions.

I have beaded purses in this collection from the late 1800's to the 1960's all intricately hand beaded and or sequined.

My aunt gave me my first vintage beaded purse when I was around 12 years old, it was a 1960's clutch purse encrusted with sequins and faux pearls, she had carried it at her wedding. It looked a lot like the one below. Maybe this is why I love them so!

I'll be adding most of my collection to my new website Resurrection Rags in the near future
if you'd like to keep up, check back soon or feel free to "like" my Resurrection Rags fan page on facebook if you have a profile there, I always update when I add new goodies to the shop.
