Summer Wells Missing photo references

I lease twenty acres and one Jenny mule
From the Alabama trust
Half of the cotton, a third of the corn
Ya get a handful of dust

We can not have all things to please us
No matter how we try
Until we've all gone to Jesus
We can only wonder why

I had a daughter called her Annabelle
She's the apple of my eye
Tried to give her something like I never had
I didn't want to ever hear her cry

We can not have all things to please us
No matter how we try
Until we've all gone to Jesus
We can only wonder why

When I'm dead and buried, I'll take a hard life of tears
For every day I've ever known
Anna's in the churchyard, she's got no life at all
She's only got these words on a stone

We can not have all things to please us
No matter how we try
Until we've all gone to Jesus
We can only wonder why

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an Endangered Child Alert for missing Summer Moon-Utah Wells. Her family reported last seeing the 5-year-old around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt, grey shorts and she was possibly barefoot when she went missing.

Wednesday, June 16, 2021
the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office held its first media briefing at 4 p.m. at Solomon’s Temple Missionary Baptist Church located at 7659 Lone Star Road in Kingsport to provide an update on the search for Summer. The TBI revealed it had no suspects in the case and no vehicle description.

from TBI -  June 16th 11:00 am
“New information and growing concern about the well-being of Summer Wells has us now issuing a statewide AMBER Alert.”

Statements LE and press:
June 16: The sheriff said it was too early to determine if foul play was involved but noted that Summer’s family was cooperating with law enforcement.
Citing “new information and growing concern about the well-being of Summer Wells,” the TBI upgraded the endangered child alert to a statewide AMBER Alert.
June 16, 2021:
Sheriff Lawson also stated,

"She's 5 years old, she left the house, maybe she got a little further than they expected"

Below photo is the last photo her grandmother snapped, on their way home after a long day out. According to metadata and statements the photo was taken around 3:09 pm June 15th. The outfit she is wearing is what she was last seen wearing before she disappeared.

June 17:
Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said “everybody is a person of interest” and “everything is on the table” regarding the investigation into Summer’s disappearance. TBI spokesperson Leslie Earhardt said the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remained unclear. She added that if investigators did develop information that the child was taken and develop a suspect and vehicle description, that information would be immediately shared with the public.

DON WELLS, SUMMER’S FATHER

Thursday, Don Wells, the father of the missing child told WVLT CBS affiliate WJHL in a written statement that he believed Summer was kidnapped while playing outside.

“She would never leave our hill. I think that someone snuck up on her and grabbed her. I don’t think she’s in the area because the dog (the sniffers, tracking dogs) goes down to the road and that’s the end of the trail, but I don’t know that for a fact. The way that she just disappeared, she would never do that,” Wells said in a written statement for CBS Affiliate WJHL.

This was the first time either of the parents spoke to members of the media.

Summer's Father Continued:

June 18: “She was planting flowers with her mother and her grandmother and she wanted to go into the house, so my wife watched her go into the door and she went into the house. And the boys were on the internet of course, and she wanted to go downstairs and play with her toys. So when her mother [came] in and she says ‘Summer,‘ and she went down into the basement and she didn’t answer. So she went down there and she was gone. So she went out the basement door, which was unlocked, and we haven’t seen her since.”

regarding what happened that day June 15th 2021

Children of Summer's age do not wander far from set boundaries, they have developed a sense of what is dangerous to do without a "Knowledgeable Other", they know what they can do on their own, where they feel safe.

Candus Wells, Summer’s mother, told News Channel 11 in a statement that she knows Summer would’ve never wandered off alone.

“I know she would never wander off this hill alone,” Wells said.

CANDUS HARER, GRANDMOTHER TO MISSING 5-YEAR-OLD SUMMER WELLS
pleaded:
"Bring my grandbaby home. She is a lovely baby, and we’re so thankful for everyone looking for her. We yelled and looked for her as much as we could. She’s just gone. It’s devastating."

The basement door and the swing  and other property "landmarks"
All arrows point toward the swing, one of the stated landmarks Summer would not wander past on her own.
Most of these areas are not visible from the trailer
The two bottom images are shots the same area, viewed from different directions.
On the right the road is leading up to the trailer and house,  you can see that the road is sloped at such an angle that someone could hide there, and if Summer wandered down there it would not be so easy to see her from up on the hill.
On the left side is the sort of clearing with the old truck and school bus, also a spot where someone could easily hide in wait for an opportunity to take her.  Just feet from the clearing and school bus is a "dog trail" basically a short cut, foot path down to the creek and the road, which is where Donald says the dogs alerted near the driveway.

In that region, the Appalachian Mountains is one of the poorest parts of the US, I lived there in my teens, went to high school in one of the next counties over. I ran away at 15 and I was athletic and experienced at getting down the steep hills and slippery rocks and crossing streams. When I ran away I started over a small hill and it took me hours to get to the next house. If I had taken the road it would have been less than 10 minutes to walk, I thought I was much further because it had gotten dark and I sat down by a stream, and minutes later there were lights and  rifles pointing at me.
You can lose your footing on one of those steep inclines and you will he hurled literally down the side of the hill, and hit tree saplings, rocks and roots, on the way down. That is why they are not allowing volunteer searches, I'm sure if one of those mountain men offer to help and they trust they know what they are doing, they wouldn't refuse the help. The population of that "area" is only 4000 people, there are black bears in those woods, and people tell stories of being chased, so they teach the children early to be careful and not go in the woods alone ever. The house they live in is up, on top of a hill the driveway winds down to the road Ben Hill road and I imagine it's quite an incline. If you look at the photos you can see how high up they are, and google maps shows there is a drop off at the edge of their property into what looks like a slippery rocky gully that is probably sometimes filled with water.

They announced that more resources were brought in to assist in the search, including a dive team, hazardous terrain search team, urban search and rescue team, and the state’s tactical radio system.
Thursday’s search effort involved more than 100 people from 41 agencies. Searchers had covered 688 acres and received 85 tips so far. They would cover around 1,000 acres by the end of the day.
TBI Public Information Officer Leslie Earhart said “all avenues are being explored” regarding the circumstances behind Summer’s disappearance.

According to reports there were several search dog teams including cadaver dogs and trackers. Donald Wells mentioned in an interview that they had also used the dogs from the prison to search.

Dive Teams searched the waters nearby, the area is very watery, lots of creeks, ponds, small waterfalls, livestock holding ponds, drain-ways, and caves.

The images of the dogs searching are from June 16th (I believe before the Amber Alert Was called)
The dogs did alert!
I included the electric pole to try to line up the location of the path of poles leading up and down to the road (Ben Hill). Search dogs seen at the foot of the hill on Ben Hill Road.

the image below was posted in a facebook group, allegedly screen shot from a neighbor in Beech Creek,  I am not sure what date it was posted or how many times it had been re-posted, but I believe she is posting around the 19th or 20th, and reference to the overnight search but the mention of the dogs is reference to the initial search that lead to the Amber Alert.

Top left square says:

"One of the people I'm on vacation with is the wife of head officer and they searching property overnight something they haven't done this whole time"

the black square, middle bottom says:

"Dogs stopped at the driveway 3 times, she got in a car or someone picked her up"

These are still clips from a short video on a local news channel

Officials said canine teams specializing in air scent, trailing/tracking and cadaver dogs are all being used in the search efforts.

She also encouraged people to not share speculation and rumors on social media.
Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said that no search warrants had been issued as every search so far had been conducted with the consent of the property owner.

The community has weighed in on the situation. Natasha Gray works at an antique shop nearby where Summer Wells disappeared.

“When you don’t have a suspect or you don’t have a defined ‘this is what happened,’ ‘there was definitely an abduction,’ or ‘this child definitely wandered off’ I think it really hangs a cloud of suspicion because you’re like could someone in our community be responsible for this?” Gray said.

TBI urged property owners in the Beech Creek area to once again check barns, crawl spaces and other areas a child could hide.

Summer’s father, Don Wells, and one of her brothers attended the vigil. Don said he was at work when his wife called to tell him that Summer was missing on Tuesday and that he rushed home to find his boys and neighbors searching for his daughter.

Summer’s mother also said she learned that a sex offender lives within minutes of her home. Police have not made any comments about possible sex offenders in the area.

However!

Note: See the area in the middle where you cannot read the name of the area? that is Rogersville, every little red bloop, is the last registered address of a sex offender including a few with the label of violence against a child, and attempted kidnappings.

Every single one of them!

(Candus)"Bly appealed to anyone who might have taken Summer to bring the girl home to her family."

“If you took her, just bring her back. You don’t even have to tell me that you did it. Just bring her back. Say that you found her walking, I don’t care. Just bring her back. That’s all I care.”

A comment posted in a crime group June 21, 2021:

Seeing pics of the property it just doesn't seem like anyone could sneak around there and steal Summer. It's pretty open so I'd think a strange car would be noticed.
There's heaps of tree cover, much like the area around William Tyrell's grandma's place. It's also very hilly which makes it easier to duck & hide quickly. Neighbours who live close enough to hear the kids playing said there was some guy camping on their land around the time she disappeared. I'm assuming he had a vehicle concealed somewhere out there, but I could be wrong.

If it wasn't for the report of that camper, & then the brazen attempted abduction 30 mins away a few days after Summer & the camper disappeared, I'd be a lot more suss of the family

June 16th

A person claiming to be a neighbor posted on facebook ...

In the image below the map indicates the property owned by the Wells, where Summer lived and disappeared from and the other had property just recently sold to a man named Jackie Dobbs, in fact the sale of the property had just been closed 11 days previous to Summer going missing. It sold for $11,500 dollars, Dobbs had left his home in GA and was planning to live on the property according to his own facebook posts (that's a deep rabbit hole so for now I'll just show the images of the property and how it relates to the time lines now). He left the property allegedly on the 14th of June and stayed at a hotel nearby...allegedly.

Jackie Dobbs posted on his facebook on June 16th...His Alibi

He even posted a photo of his dog Elvis, on the property with a timestamp:

Is that a shed or other structure behind the no trespassing sign?

Below are views of the area from the property Dobbs purchased, which is right across Ben Hill Road from the Well's' property. The photos are from the for sale postings of the property, obviously taken either in the winter or fall season.

The photo below is a view from the property purchased by Jackie Dobbs on June 7th 2021. As we can see he has a pretty good view of someone's house on a hill just across the way. You can also see the road below which would be Ben Hill Road

Is this what he could see from his vantage point?

another view from the property, another neighbor's house he had view to, and the road, anyone coming and going.

the overlay below may not be exactly accurate, but you can see in the above image at center left  the main road Beech Creek road runs horizontally between the house and the side road going up,  and the side road is possibly, Morrison Cemetery Road, which is slightly across from Ben Hill Road running from center left downward to bottom right. I could be wrong. But I might be right.

Is this what Dobbs could see from his perch?

Donald and Candus Wells were interviewed, one of the statements given (paraphrased) was from her mother who insisted Summer would not go beyond the swing.

Grandmas Trailer is at the top, the basement door to the right, the hill down toward the old school bus, and lower level of the road, down the driveway is middle, and the swing is to the left of the house

The big tree in front of the house is where the swing is, I marked possible paths of the electric wire for the property. the right facing side is where the interview was held and it is a hill sloped down toward the road, where the school bus is parked.

Notice the dogs alerted near the electricity pole.

He could definitely see this old school bus parked on the Wells property, shown below, just off the the circular drive which winds up to the house.

See the School Bus? The house? The dog trails?
