Miami , the South East/West parts, not the city proper, but densely populated ,,,North to South, from Coconut Grove to Homestead is about 35 miles. US 1/Dixie Hwy, the main route, runs north to south, to get from there to there, is an average of 8 to 5 miles, east from the bay ..the Atlantic Ocean.
I live here, to me this is a very small area, logistically, and the thought of a constant barrage of missiles and bombs is literally unimaginable in this small area. When there is a eminent hurricane, we as residents, have 2 choices, (maybe 3).
1) evacuate voluntarily, save what you cherish, and get out of town, The issue with that is there is 1 evacuation route, and from past events we all know you will get stuck on the road in traffic trying to get out of FL.
2) shelter in place and pray for the best
3) mandatory evacuations into crowded shelters, no pets(?), no belongings that are not needed, mostly for people closer to possible tides and floods

Gaza Palestine is a strip of land which is 25 miles in length and 7.5 miles wide Israel on all borders, except for the one little corner to the north, bordering Egypt (border closed and basically controlled under threat of sanctions, by Israel).
Just a month previous to Oct 5th the Gaza strip was was populated by street vendors selling things like toys and clothing, household necessities, perfumes, men's suits ladies traditional garments, There were young children playing in groups, PLAYING not staring at phones, teen agers hanging and actually looking like they are doing things, 2 teen boys driving a cart and donkey through the street selling vegetables and fruits, another with a cart full of eggs in flats. Another group of young teenage "men" gathered around and under the hood of a truck trying to fix it, Mothers with their children shopping the street vendor markets, buying clothing for their children, toys etc! Young adult men walking through the streets carrying their children on their shoulders, kids gleaming with the thrill of it, Families in clusters sticking together . Old men alone, walking with canes, or limps or struggling with Cerebral palsy, MS, and other aliments. young boys on scooters, young men on motor bikes...
