I did lot's of research into the Oakland Child Killings in MI and other, horrible crimes in the surrounding areas, previous to, and after, until recently, even over into Canada and Possibly Ohio, I know it's much bigger than that and goes all the way to TX and CA, FL, DC, Atlanta, and the outskirts of everywhere.
Interesting tidbit Jeff Epstein stayed at a camp in MI with ties to a notorious Island run by a notorious Billionaire. There is a Cabin named after him, allegedly he and his lady preyed on at least one girl from there. I started doing the research because there is another "player" in the TN game that has ties to MI (around Westland), there are actually more, but I focused on one, because rabbit holes :). It's a very interesting social situation with mass traumatization of children and families, isolation, everyone was afraid to be out of their houses, the insane asylums in MI (there were several old ones) had to deinstitutionalize many of their patients under President Carter in the late '70s - early 80's. JW Gayce was a suspect in the Oakland Child Killings at one point. And ultimately it all never went away it just went further under the surface, got more parasitic and learned new ways to evade detection. The same corridors are being used today for the same old purposes, and the internet has made it so much easier.
Take a look at North Fox Island in MI. 1960's - late 70's, Francis Shelden, Adam Starchild, Brother Paul's Children's Mission...and then ...1976 -77 the Snow killers aka babysitter killer aka Oakland county Child Killers, this is a good study case in profiles. Crazy cases, 2+ separate cases, the Island (much like Epstein's) and then a rash of child serial murders, in the area south of Lake MI. They believe the cases may have been connected or "infected" and they are only partially solved to this day. Almost blamed on Gacy, but DNA "proved" otherwise. People are still digging into it 50 years later. It is said to be one of the main cases that sparked the phrase "Stranger Danger". 1960's The island was up in Lake MI privately owned by a rich elite Francis Shelden, set up as a camp for young wayward and underprivileged adolescent boys, Activities included lots of photographs, if ya catch my drift, and there was a printing press facility on the island, and distribution .... an airplane strip to transport visitors to and from, for a good fee and other stipulations, it was a huge network.
He had a teacher / recruiter set up in a public school down at the Lake Huron Port, north of Detroit, suburbs area. ...
You probably cannot read the text of the image below but look at the headlines of the day.
This was a time of so much political and social change, the Gay rights movement, the Vietnam war, the Black Panthers, Segregation, Free Love, Experimental Mind altering drugs...citizens being experimented on ....and the rich were getting richer, and the poor, as usual, were being taken advantage of.
“Epstein attended Interlochen’s 'National Music Camp' in 1967. His course of study was Bassoon/Orchestra/Radio.”
You can see where Interlochen is in respect to the Island in the map image above.
Beside the words “Michigan Home” and “Epstein Lodge” in the Little Black Book were the P.O. Box and address for Interlochen, along with three area phone numbers.

In the same time that North Fox Island is being exposed, so is Boys Farm Inc. in Winchester or Roark Cove TN ( www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1977/06/05/boys-farm-scandal/3db01172-781a-497c-9b8b-9340adcc7155/ ). This is basically in the backyard of Sewanee Seminary (University of the South), less than 20-30 miles.
The Farm was associated with Boy Scout Troop 137 from New Orleans (https://www.fox8live.com/2019/04/25/victim-calls-transparency-after-more-scout-troop-leaders-are-suspected-child-sex-abuse/). The connection of the Farm and North Fox Island was financer Francis Shelden. There were also four other organizations associated with the group. They all dealt with foster and underprivileged youth, specifically boys. One was a school in Coral Gables Florida called Adelphi Academy. Additionally, there was a pedophilic sex travel agency called Adelphi Tours
(http://lcweb4.loc.gov/service/ll/pdbs/pdbs13a/PDBS_300_test/00183854112/00000449.txt). The list I mentioned pertained to the Farm. It had over 200 "sponsors" from places as far away as Australia and the Philippines.
This was 1976-77.

In 1974, Vermilye's son Bill went missing and was never found
- A news clipping from 1977 Manchester TN
The search wasn't without effort, but it was guided by the local Manchester TN DA General, Charles S Ramsey Jr
I don't know if he's related to John or James Ramsey, but his statements sure seem quick to wrap up the search for the body.
Claudius Vermilye did some time in prison, but was allowed to work with children in a high school after he got out. He lived a long life, his family did not hold a memorial for him
The other connection I could imagine, but haven't looked into is that.. this area is definitely in the influence territory of the Dixie Mafia and is in an extremist and vice trafficking part of the country.. not too far from Arkansas.
It's so much worse. This sent me down a real rabbit hole, but I won't be able to sum it up any better than the Don't Talk to Strangers podcast episode 8
Some points of note:
Vermilye's missing son Bill was one of the victims and was pictured in the explicit photographs recovered from the raid of the farm
Shelden owned a ski resort in CO (not sure the name or town)
When Shelden fled the country to escape persecution he left his trust to a darling of the libertarian party and NAMBLA member Adam Starchild
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Starchild: efforts to recover the trust seems like a pretty epic tale)
It just keeps spreading out!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!
There's a connection to Greenfield Ranch and Leonard Lake and Charles Ng here too. Is this the most useful place to deposit it, or is there a better place? I just don't want to bog you down with tangential connections.

1977 Washington Post:
Boys Farm Scandal
By Kirk Loggins and
James BranscomeJune 5, 1977
The grass has gone to seed on the lawn of the 1 1/2-acre Tennessee Boys Farm, and only the smashed remains of a photographic lab in a red plywood outbuilding serves as a reminder that it was the scene for five years of what authorities called a "house of boy prostitution" that furnished photographs of wayward young boys engaged in homosexual activity to a network of sponsors across the nation.
Inside the seven-room partial brick A-frame, where director Rev. Claudius I. Vermilye allegedly commited and filmed the "crimes against nature" that netted him a 25-to-10-year prision sentence from a Franklin County jury Friday, only torn copies of Reader's Digest, a faded copy of "The Power of Positive Thinking" and a set of word flash cards piled on the carpet were left of the defrocked Episcopal priest's home "where boys could learn self-respect and responsibility."
At the small grocery store that sells gas, bologna, snuff and other vitals to this Appalachian foothills farming, community, Mrs. Pete Hill, the owner, was still shaking her head in disbelief. "I just can't believe it went on that long without anyone in the community knowing," she said. "You know how boys are, they want to brag and tell their friends, but those boys got on the bus here and shopped here and we just didn't know. The community wasn't involved."
Hill, stopping her conversation for a moment to sell a bottle of pop and package of crackers, says she felt sorry for "Bud," the name Vermilye was known by locally when he was pastor of the Alto Parish from 1953 to 1962, because "nobody from his family came to support him. If I had a son who did what he did, whether I agreed with it or not, I would have come. Nobody came."
Hill said Vermilye, who frequently bragged about his wealthy New York parents, shopped at the store and always seemed like a real nice man. The boys helped the farmers around here in the hay and nobody suspected anything." She speculated that if the boys had not had trouble in the past "people might have been more concerned."
At the placid town of Winchester, the county seat of an area that is a geographical pause between the Cumberland Plateau coal field and the Frey Drewry said the county was relieved that "the week that was, was over."
He attributed the lack of community hostility that often comes of spectacular trials in the mountains to the fact that "this subject was over the people's heads. They didn't understand it. Maybe if it had been girls out there, it would have been different. I don't know."
But Chief Deputy Sheriff Robert Campbell, dining at the 19th-century Hundred Oaks castle modeled after Sir Walter Scott's, was certain that if the jury had deadlocked, "we'd have had trouble on our hands tonight."
"It just seems so out of character," said Mrs. Clifford Williams, a housewife who was one of two character witnesses for Vermilye called by the defense. But Willaims said her knowledge of Vermilye came only from the time he was pastor of the tiny, whiteframe Alto parish.
And, she said after reflecting on the evidence, "anyone who did the things they're talking about should be put in stock out here on the courthouse lawn so people can throw rotten eggs at him."
Vermilye, who remained in jail today, unable to make $20,000 bond, took the stand in his own defense and denied that he had committed homosexual acts with the boys under his care or that he had posed then for pornographic photographs received by the home's sponsors across the country.
But, in the face of some 2,000 photographs and 13 letters he wrote to a Delaware sponsor last year, offering slide sets for $25 and touting the skills of two 15-year-old boys at the farm, Vermilye was forced to admit that he had sent nude photos and sex-filled letters to some homosexual sponsors. He maintained, however, that he did this only as a "counselor" in an effort to "keep their desires in the closet."
Circuit Court Judge Thomas Greer consolidated the 12 sentences against Vermilye (totaling 105-165 years) into three groups, to run 25 to 40 years, after telling the defendant he was convinced that the two boys who testified for the defense committed perjury at the direction of Vermilye.
One of those youth, James Puckett, 21, who was the first resident of the Boys Farm when Vermilye established it in 1971, was arrested on a perjury warrant when he visited Vermilye at the jail Friday night, according to Sheriff Jim Brazelton.
Local police were seeking the second youth cited by Judge Green Danny Smith, 15, on charges that he assaulted his mother last week at her home in nearby Estill Springs. He had lived at the farm since he was 11.
Tommy Fly, 15, who testified that he engaged in sex with Vermilye and boys at the farm rather than return to his mother and stepfather in Estill Springs, was also being held today in the county jail in Winchester, pending his return to state juvenile institution in Nashville. He was sent there last month on a marijuana possession charge.

Claudius I. “Bud” Vermilye, 89, died at his home June 22, 2018 where he retired in 1997. He was born in 1928 in Bayside, New York where he graduated from PS 41 and Bayside High School.
During those years he was an active member of the Bayside Yacht Club, racing his Comet Class sailboat. He attended All Saints Episcopal Church Bayside where he was an acolyte and a lay reader. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Church in Catonsville, Maryland briefly when his family lived there.
Bud served in the US Air Force for four years during the Korean War, based in Clark Air Force Base, the Philippines as a staff sergeant. There he was a lay reader conducting the morning prayer services and preaching weekly.
He then graduated from Tusculum College of Greenville, TN and the School of Theology in Sewanee TN. Ordained in 1948, Bud was assigned priest in charge of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and later a rector at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Tifton, GA for two years.

Around 1975 or 1976, McConahy changed his name to Adam Aristotle Starchild. In February 1976 a photograph of him as Adam Starchild appeared in the gay newspaper The Advocate by that name. The paper reported that Starchild, an "openly gay business consultant" of West Hudson Business Service, Kearny N.J., had received a Presidential Sports Award from Gerald Ford for his canoe expeditions through the Quetico-Superior wilderness area of Minnesota and Ontario.[7]
On 4 March 1976 an obituary appeared in the Kearny Observer as follows:
Malcolm McConahy, of 325 Maple St., was killed in an auto accident in Minneapolis, Minn. while visiting relatives. McConahy was the sales manager for the West Hudson Business Service and recently opened his own consulting firm, McConahy Associates. He is survived by a brother in Tennessee.[7]
n May 1976, he appeared in Bergen County courthouse seeking dismissal of a lawsuit he had filed one year earlier against his mother.[7]
Starchild's writing career began at about the same time as he changed his name. He was prolific, writing on topics that broadly reflected his libertarian, anti-tax, anti-government attitudes. He often used publishers who specialised in producing works of a similar nature, such as Loompanics Unlimited, Paladin Press and Scope International. Periods in the 1970s and 80s when he produced no books appear to tie-in with times when he was in prison.
In 1977, the Traverse City Record-Eagle reported that Starchild was involved in a number of supposed charitable organisations funded by a wealthy Michigander Francis Duffield Shelden: the Church of the New Revelation of Kearny, New Jersey, Brother Paul's Children's Mission on North Fox Island, Michigan, the Educational Foundation for Youth of Illinois, and the Ocean Living Institute of New Jersey – the last allegedly devoted to underwater habitats, aquaculture, ocean architecture, and ocean law,[9] which were said to be tax dodges and fronts for sexual activity involving boys.[7][10]
In 1976 Shelden fled to the Netherlands to escape impending charges.[11] To protect his assets, he handed two million dollars in securities to Starchild, who had advised the creation of an offshore trust, with himself as trustee. However, Starchild neglected to provide proper accounting, or hand over the securities to the successor trustee, Edward Brongersma, whom an increasingly worried Shelden appointed. Despite being an international fugitive, in 1983 Shelden managed to successfully take Starchild to court to reclaim the funds.[12][13]

In Reality:
Starchild died in Spain, on 22 September 2006. He had recently moved there from Panama as he felt that he would receive better medical care in Spain. Earlier in 2006 he had traveled to Japan for experimental surgery on a tumor and he wrote that his operation there had attracted the attention of the Japanese media. Starchild was survived by his partner Javier.
