I found this old unfinished digital collage in a folder of images I haven't looked at in a long time. I remember being excited when I started it with a great idea in my head and eventually feeling like it wasn't going where I'd planned, so I put it away and forgot about it. It's not finished

“dolor hic tibi proderit olim,”
I think there is a zebra spirit in me
we met when I was a child and he taught me how to hide in the grasses from the lions, how to use my stripes to keep myself safe, how to endure the cuts and scrapes of sharp grasses, and the stings of insects. He was as wise as any poet from the 15/16th century. In Zebra fashion he says, “dolor hic tibi proderit olim,” which translates to, “Be patient and tough; someday this pain will be useful to you.”
